Mysterious Happenings

Caution: These images may be shocking.
A political meeting today on the desert world of Al Raqis was cut short when a discovery was made by an unnamed person. "I yell someone die but them just laugh at me. Well, who laughing now, huh" was the only comment we were able to garner, as the finder of the alleged vandalism pointed to the sign in the photograph. The sign was actually a message written in what some say is blood. This is yet to be confirmed.
This is just one more in a continuing expression of dissatisfaction with the local governments handling of the investigation into the death of Jade Moonkill. We have learned that while much of the alleged vandalism has been kept under wraps for fear of alarming the public, the main reason for squashing news around the growing dissension is a desire to NOT give any publicity to the group known as Jadeists, or Followers of Jade. This little known cult is said to be behind most of the planets problems.
A notable group including KPS personnel, the Magistrate herself, Ms. Consulari Jai Raghilda, Lady Reiko Soyinka, and others was seen leaving the scene of the crime-taped crime after a lengthy private discussion. Members of the public were asked to leave the building, to ensure that news of this event did not reach the Cortex. However, they neglected to remember one key fact: you can't stop the signal!
A small jade rabbit was found at the scene of the alleged terrorism threat -it is being analysed.
On a related note, the demand for jade stone from Dragon's Egg has increased dramatically in the past hour.

Banner toting spacecraft advertised authentic jADE souvenirs planet-wide and a variety of authentic jADE items are being sold both in Al Raqis and on other planets where the Jadites have become somewhat of a cause celebre'. Reportedly necklaces for men and women, unity statues, small desk statues, and lawn ornaments are all being sold to help raise money for what is being termed ''Humanitarian Aid".

Robbery Attempt

Citizens of all regions are advised to be on the lookout for a suspect in the attempted robbery of the Passport office at Dragon's Egg. Last night, as the worker Rabi was locking up the office, a man approached her and asked for directions the theatre. As she turned to corner to show him, he grabbed her by the arm and attempted to shove her to the ground. She resisted, and a struggle ensued. During the struggle he fell off the edge of the second story walkway, and ran away. According to the victim the man was approximately 6 feet tall, weighted approximately 240 pounds, had dark hair and a mustache, and spoke without any trace of any sort of accent. He was wearing a cowboy hat, sunglasses and a brown overcoat.

Anyone having any information leading to the apprehension of this suspect is requested to contact Elix Darkfold, who is the heading up security operations on Dragon's Egg

Mining Update

Gold isn't the only thing being found in Dragon's Egg mining country. The body of an as yet unidentified person believed to have been mining was found by the dogs that patrol the mines. The UAP has been notified, and are running a scan on the person's remains, to determine the identity and cause of death.

Local residents, under the cloak of anonymity, speculate that the person was involved in some sort of smuggling operation or secret society. "There's things down there. Strange things. Ain't right."

Members of the Community Council could not be reached for comment. However, the next bi-weekly Council meeting is scheduled for a week and two days from now. By that time, either the mystery will have been solved, or there will no doubt be demands for explanations.

In the mean time, people are still mining, and are depositing gold in the banks. Additional security has been requested due to the influx of gold and off-world assets.

CASE REOPENED - RUMOURS FLY!

Reports of Attack at Docks and Underground City
Open Borders Investigation Team Special Report
From the Dragon's Enigma, Special Edition.

Coverup? Conspiracy? Rumors are flying around Dragon's Egg with today's announcement that the investigation into the recent shooting at the docks has been reopened. While it cannot be confirmed, it is believed a clerical error resulted in the victims name not being found on the security feeds.

Alliance officials were willing to give this statement. "We do not believe the attacker is still on Dragons Egg. Fortunately, we have several leads and are currently following up on them. We have been unable to speak with the target of the attach; however we are assured he was uninjured. However this is a serious matter, not to be discounted. "

Local residents have expressed concern over the reappearance of the Alliance, who were scheduled to leave Dragons Egg orbit sometimes in the next few days. "Now those purple bellies have an excuse to stay, and ain't no one here thinks thats a good thing " stated one local resident who spoke on conditions of anonymity.

It is expected that this incident will be a hotly followed topic at tomorrows Community Council meeting.

Report of Attacks on Offworlder - The Investigation

Reports of Attack / Open Borders Investigation Team Report

Following published reports of an alleged attack on an out-worlder at the Dragon's Egg Docks, a full investigation of the alleged attack was instituted by Open Borders officials. Full access to all Port records was given to the investigators. The findings show that:

1. The alleged victim, a Scientist proportedly en route from Botany Bay, did not actually visit Dragons Egg.

Thus, reports of the attack are unfounded, and no further investigation is necessary.

Dragon's Egg continues be allowed to participate in the Open Borders Prorgam.

Local spokesperson Kia Marrah, speaking on behalf of BlueSun Corporation was one of several business owners who pressed for a full and complete investigation as soon word of the alleged violent attack reached the Colony. "Our employees come from all walks of life, and we would not want to be here if there was an implicit or explicit policy of violence toward people who come to do business with us. We are not sure why anyone would file a false report, but facts are facts - most of our locals welcome all the newcomers. If they didn't we wouldn't have located our Headquarters here. Business is Business".Alliance Liaison Bethany Lionheart concurred. "We withdrew our watchers months ago, when Dragon's Egg opened up for trade with outsiders. We would not have done that if we had any fear there would be violence against other Citizens. Our scans show the alleged victim was not even here. No local reports were filed. No one witnessed any attacks. We aren't sure why the report even went to the News offices.". According to Ms. Lionheart, the local Dockmaster has provided all of the landing and departing information to both the Alliance and the OPB as requested, and while many ships have come and gone, none of them brought an offworld scientist. "We see this sort of false report from time to time", Lionheart stated. "If we had any concerns, we'd send someone to talk to the alleged victim, but as he did not actually visit Dragons Egg, that does not seem to be a very wise use of our resources."

The Dockmaster working during the time of the purported attack agreed to talk to us under condition we print his statement in full. "I run a clean Dock. I don't know why anyone would lie about goings on or try to make out like we don't welcome trade. Only thing I can think of is someone doesn't want the competition. We don't have high taxes like many of the other docks. Our fees are among the lowest around, and the quality of our service is equal to any of the docks in the Core Worlds. This guy, the scientist - he wasn't here. I doubt he even wrote the report. Sounds to me like someone is trying to discourage scientists from coming here. Sounds to me like someone wants to keep this moon closed off, and the only reason for that is, there is something here they want for themselves. Can't blame them for that. Hell, I wouldn't mind having some of what I see pass through here. ".

Local residents have expressed shock and disbelief at the reports of the the attack. Comments range from "My children play out on the docks all the time. Nothing like this has ever happened, and frankly I don't believe it" to "What do you expect, with so many people coming and going. Someone probably had a disagreement, lost some coin and now wants to blame it on an attack.".

The Dragon's Egg Community Council wishes to reaffirm that not only are they in full compliance with the Open Borders welcoming policy, they actively seek new markets and opportunities. Speaking on behalf of the Council, Shepherd Liam Moorsider told us "We don't take harassment of outworlders lightly. This Council exists to address any of this type of thing, should it occur. If anyone has any evidence of unprovoked violence on anyone visiting our ports, they need only bring it to the Church here. Our Council meetings are open to the public. ".

A follow up investigation into the reasons for the filing of the false report is underway.
